  I was here for the re-opening in November 2014, and I returned as soon as I could make it back to Charlotte. I love this site. Inside, there’s a circular museum setup with a small theater in the middle. Really cool design. There’s a small gift shop area in the lobby. Outside they do hourly tours as weather permits, with two log cabin houses set up nicely to depict how they would be in the time period of Polk’s childhood.

  Really neat to take a couple hours and learn some local history. Funny I've never been, but am a lifelong local. Recommend checking it out.

  The staff here are passionate and friendly, which really added to the experience. Polk accomplished quite a bit in his four years as president. Something I had forgotten before coming here.

Excellent for it's size... Very pleased with the curation and presentation and staff. Not the biggest or fanciest, but well done. Definitely worth a visit of about 2 hours.
