As a teacher or performer Charles Vaughn is truly exceptional.

The strength of Charles' teaching is in the detail to which he understands the subtle nuances of guitar technique and his ability to both demonstrate and explain them. Extremely analytical in approach, he is great at helping students develop new techniques or resolve existing problems . Low key in personality and approach , he is an excellent fit for students of all ages, abilities, and aspirations.

He performs and teaches an unusually broad range of musical styles and composers. Not autocratic, he encourages students to play the music they like best.

Charles is also an excellent performer. His effortless style and musicianship make for a pleasant experience. I've never heard him express it this way but when he performs its "all about the audience" and not about "him". He has an extensive repertoire but when required his "custom" arrangements are innovative and beautiful. If it can be played (well) on a guitar, Charles can do it!

In August, 2002, soon after my 61st birthday, I got the "middle age crazies" and took up classical guitar, an instrument I had never played before. For fifteen years Charles has been a great teacher and friend and I have been extremely happy with my progress. Although somewhat held back by three operations on my left hand (Viking Syndrome) I, nevertheless, enjoy playing most of the well known composers, my favorites probably being Bach, Barrios Mangore, Brouwer, and Villa-Lobos. I, of course, could never have done this without Charles' help.

I was a student of Charles for three years at his Studio in Charlotte, while on assignment in North Carolina. My technique and guitar playing ability improved significantly during that time. Upon returning to the Albany, NY area, I have been looking for a teacher to continue taking lessons. At a session at the CADY Music School on Livingston Ave in Albany, I was told by the instructor, in my first and only meeting, that I would not be able to get that high quality of education, here in Albany; that instructor said that I would not be able to find any teacher with the caliber of Charles in any other place. The North Carolina Program Charles runs is the best in the country, the instructor said.

Charles is a talented professional whose music at my daughter's wedding provided the perfect backdrop for a sweet, romantic wedding. Charles learned two pieces specifically for us as requested. We were thrilled with his work. He is easy to contact, always responding quickly via email. Charles shows up on time (SO grateful) and provided a seamless experience on a stressful day. You cannot go wrong with Charles Vaughn's skill and professionalism.

Charles Vaughn is truly a musician and teacher to be sought after. He has the gift of being able to communicate excellent technique and guitar theory at a level that makes you want to be excited about it. I would often leave lessons with a sheet of music in hand anticipating going home and working on it. Like all good teachers, Charles will inspire you to become a better guitar player and musician, if not by his own love for teaching and performing then by the way he approaches the subject, which is full of grace and wisdom. He will take your guitar playing to a place where you didn’t think you could go and will show you how to make the written notes leap off the page when you play them. If you are serious about becoming a better guitar player, Charles Vaughn should be your first stop along the journey.

Charles Vaughn is a Master Guitarist who plays with such skill and finesse that you can feel the passion in each melody. There seems to be complimenting story lines happening all at the same time through the intricacies of his playing. Charles has played for both of our daughters' weddings as well as several funerals that we have attended. If you want a rich, romantic, classy atmosphere, Charles is the one to invite. Regardless of the setting, his playing will make your event special.
