Patricia Umanah is a wonderful teacher I finished my NA1 course here & got a job at the hospital less than 2months later,I'm currently taking the NA2 Class with Ms . Patricia,I'm wish it was also offered in Gastonia but I don't mind the drive bc I trust Ms. Patricia ,great school,great instructor!
Patricia, the owner of Umanah Healthcare, is dedicated to making sure her students are prepared to take their NC state CNA exam. If you listen to her tips for passing the written and skills exams, you will do well. She knows her stuff, and she cares about her students' success.
Being passionate and to the point is not being rude. She does answer your questions, and she does expect a lot out of us. If you take the skills test, you'll understand why she does.
It's hard for the teaching materials to be outdated because our booklets for skills and the book for the written portion are created by the state. Power points are never substitutes for taking good notes. Patrica's lecture notes explain exactly what to do to get through the skills exam without missing steps. Our skills booklets were covered in notes including the supplies you'll need listed at the top. We wrote these after watching the skills performed in the lab by Patricia. We then went through and practiced the skills ourselves. She also gives notes with examples of potential test questions and how not to get tripped up on the written test. These notes were invaluable to me.
The certificates were given out to the entire class on our last day after clinicals were completed. She congratulated us, and we took a class picture. They were not held hostage. There was no charge.
Patricia held review sessions for us and worked with our schedule after we had already finished her course. She was not getting paid for all the extra time she spent with us making sure we were prepared. She allowed us to come and practice in her labs any time we needed to. These are the things that I appreciate about her and will remember.
I passed the state exam thanks to Patricia and her dedication. She has the highest pass rate in the state for a reason.
