The Alair team was wonderful to work with from start to finish. We added more than 1000sq/ft to our home including a primary bedroom suit, kitchen, half-bath, patio, and entertainment room. Their professionalism and focus on their customers provided us with confidence throughout renovation process. We couldn’t be happier with how our home turned out!

The experience Alair Homes Charlotte offered to our family in our newly purchased home fully met our expectations. From the initial consultation to its final completion, the entire team at Alair attentively listened to our plans for the project, patiently handled our additions/changes, and performed quality work resulting in a beautiful outcome.

Our remodeling included converting a desk/drop zone area into a beautiful dry bar and newly updated drop zone. The work of Jordan Bailey's team customizing all our cabinetry was beyond commendable. His work is impeccable and he stands completely behind it wanting to ensure it is exactly what the client wants. In addition to the dry bar area, we updated the kitchen with a new island, converted granite to quartzite, applied new backsplash tile, and modernized the sink and faucet area. Again, the work of Jordan's team coupled with the work of Alair, specfically our Project Manager Kareena, could not have been more professional yet extremely comfortable during the Covid crisis. Lastly, we converted a glass door to our bonus room to a beautiful, personally designed barn door. Both Jordan's and Alair's team willingly overcame a couple design issues that we recognized, and the finished product could not have been more perfect!

Again, it is with complete confidence and pride, that I recommend Alair Homes Charlotte. We are so grateful for their service and will without hesitation use them for future projects. Thank you for making it so special.

My wife and I had the pleasure of working with Alair for both the design and build phase of a renovation project and can provide insight for prospective clients on both. For context, we widened and modernized our front porch with some awesome craftsman touches (great carpentry), expanded our kitchen in a complete re-design (all new custom cabinets), and re-configured existing space to accommodate a bigger bedroom and converted a half-bath to a full. Overall, Alair was terrific. They have high standards for the quality of their work, the people they hire, and those they work with.

Prior to the renovation I interviewed a number of potential contractors and companies that could take on our project. We selected Alair because of their preparation and transparency. We worked with Roger who at all points was the most forthright and trustworthy point of contact. Over the next few months we went back and forth with Alair about the best way to accomplish our project. They listened to our needs and got to know our style (better than we knew it ourselves?). A third-party designer was brought in to assist, and this originally led to a fully drawn out plan for us to build a second story on top of our house. However, due to financial constraints that plan had to be scrapped. If I could offer one item for Alair to improve upon, I found the financial tracking of the planning phase tough to follow.

At this point we were indecisive, and Alair took the time to sit down with us and start from scratch, again listening to us about what we wanted to accomplish. This was a very meaningful stage for us as Alair could have walked away having fulfilled an initial design contract, but their whole team seemed to want to transform our house into the vision we had. Through some creative thinking, our project manager Kareena (who was a great match for us and our project) showed us how we could make the necessary adjustments without expanding the square footage footprint, and we went ahead with it.

What was a learning experience for us and Alair was working with a lending agency. Alair worked cooperatively as we all learned the construction loan process. Once the paperwork was settled, we were given insight into a project management portal where we could review the schedule, track budget, receive daily updates via email, and make approval on all relevant selections. There was transparency here but I do wish I had taken more time to learn the site up-front. Especially with regard to all of the individual item selections.

The renovation took four months. We did come in slightly over budget (including our buffer budget) but that was due to decisions we made for quality appearances that Kareena presented to us as options. There were some (but not many) hurdles that came up that required funding, but overall the build process was smooth. All of the sub-contractors were respectful of our time and space. Alair really does choose to work with great, patient people, and that makes a big difference. Their team was consistently timely, and cleaned up well. They were also courteous to our neighbors, which we appreciated. If we requested a touch up or a sub-contractor make a repair, that was scheduled ASAP without question.

By the end of the project we were sad to see them go as people, but thrilled with what they left behind.

Last May I purchased a 20-year-old lake house that was need of a remodel. I hired a great architect and began searching for a great general contractor. My focus was quality and cost. I spoke to local architects and subs for recommendations. I did a lot of online research and narrowed the list down to 4 GC’s. After interviewing all of them I decided to hire Alair Homes in Charlotte. They had a great reputation for delivering high quality, on time and on budget. I liked Alair’s direct and transparent approach to running the project. Rodger Ketchum from Alair was very experienced and knowledgeable about how to best approach the project. They use a good online tool that allowed me to see all of the sub-contractor quotes, project budget, schedule, and project progress.
The team from Alair did a great job outlining the entire project before we started so I had a clear idea of what to expect and what was needed to keep the project on schedule and on budget. I had great bid drawings from my Architect that also helped outline and define the scope of the project. Of course, I added a few extra thinks along the way and we adjusted the budget and schedule to accommodate those changes.
Alair assigned Dan Danger as the project manager for my remodel. Dan did an outstanding job running the project and keeping me informed along the way. He posted daily progress along with photos to keep me up to date. Dan was also good at resolving any issues that popped along the way.
We moved in last month and could be happier with the outcome. The Alair team delivered a highly crafted remodel on time and on budget. I highly recommend using them.

I own a small custom cabinet company (Cabinets Trim & More) and over the past year we have done quite a few jobs for Alair Homes. They are a fantastic company to do work for. The Project Managers are Dan, Clayton, and Kareena and they all know everything that is happening at their job sites. (This is a huge plus. Most companies PMs have no clue whats going on) The owner Roger is also hands on and awesome to work with. Every customer we have met seems to love working with Alair. Their final product is fantastic. There site manager Pat goes above and beyond to make sure every customer is 100% happy with the final outcome of the project. We hope to keep doing work with this company for a long time.
