Beaverdam Lake State Recreation Area

Great for birdwatching in the winter. Lots of ducks in the upper part of the lake, south of Old Weaver Rd. And the best part is no motorized boats! So it was pretty quiet the Saturday in January.

I haven't been here in the summer but there are a TON of picnic tables and shelters and grills. Looks like a great place to bring everyone for a picnic or cookout.

There is also a nice dock for launching canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, or sailboats, with plenty of parking. And a swim beach and a fishing dock or two.

Looks like a lot of trails as well. I plan to come back with my family and take some hikes.

My son and I enjoy driving over here and fishing off the public fishing pier.

swimming area closed, but allowed to swim on either side of it. many kids jammed into a tight area, a few adults as well. not all of the tables were full, but it got pretty close to filling up. still had a great time.

I would give this a 4.5 Star. Beautiful sections of Falls Lake / Reasonable Length of Hiking Trails but Entrance Fees imposed. I feel all Public Parks should be Free since we have paid taxes. This would allow people who otherwise might not be able to afford fees to enter and enjoy nature.
