Union Special

Union Special is literally one of the best places in the triangle. I have yet to eat or drink something from here that wasn't one of the most amazing things that I've ever eaten. Everything feels clean, safe, and welcoming including the safe. They are sweet and caring even when they are busy, which is often. I could honestly eat here every day.

I love this place! It is a wonderful locally owned, community based cafe and bakery. They focus on locally sourced high quality ingredients and impeccable customer service. The food and the super friendly staff keep me coming back. It's nice to walk into a place and receive a warm, welcome. You can tell that the employees are treated well because I've noticed limited staff turnover. It is also family friendly! Please add it to your list of Raleigh brunch spots!

Friendly staff and great food. Spend your money here! Union’s Cuban gets an 8/10. Excellent ingredients assembled skillfully with love. The bread was something special; Crispy outside, soft and airy middle with no room for improvement. The flavors were almost there for me and boy am I picky. A 10 out of 10 would have a little more acid and a little more sweet and that low and slow pork would be off the heat an hour sooner to remain perfectly moist. Very tasty and well done. Can’t wait to try again!

I’ve eaten here 5 times and it’s mostly been really good and I’ll be back! I’ve really enjoyed and would definitely recommend the egg sandwich, the potatoes, the blue corn cookie, and all the biscuits I’ve had & all the eggs - they’ve been really well cooked consistently. Tried the grits for the first time last weekend & they were totally unseasoned - so I won’t be getting those again. My partner tried bowl with greens & grits & a poached egg… the egg was great, grits were not well seasoned and the vinegar in the greens over powered the flavor of everything. Still having fun trying everything out & the egg sandwich is still my favorite so far
