This is my daughter's first in person school year at WFCA and we love it! Last year she went here for Kindergarten but we were virtual, so we feel like this is our actual 1st experience. I have been meaning to leave a review for quite some time now because I think its important to highlight the positive.

The school has outstanding communication! Text, email and phone calls. I love that they have a school app. I can see if she needs lunch money added to her account to how many days she was tardy or absent to my daughter's grades to see how she is doing. This is so helpful because it doesn't come as a shock by time you have a conference because you already have a clear idea on how your student is doing. In addition, they send the graded assignments home weekly so that you can review what they are excelling in or may need more help in.

I truly believe they value parents feedback. They see parents as partners in the process of helping their child develop and grow. They also send out surveys frequently which demonstrates that they care and want to hear how parents feel and what they are doing well at and what areas could use improvement.

I absolutely love the fact that the school includes monthly Moral focus virtues in their education process. Teaching our kids about character and how to be a good person is something kids usually get through experiences. However, not many schools that I know of actually instill this in their curriculum. This shows they are invested in the whole child.

Yes carpool lines are long and the classroom sizes are big and teachers could use assistants and some positions are vacant. If anybody feels these shortcomings, it would be the staff. However, I think if we watch the news we will see that in Wake County alone they are struggling like most places all over the country to fill positions in schools. The pandemic has created many challenges for all of us during these times. Unfortunately on our schools as well. Teachers and staff have a lot on them to teach and to implement covid protocols and keep our kids safe and yet meet their professional development goals all while wearing a mask and telling kids to pull up their mask and sanitize all day. In addition, they are risking their lives everyday to show up, which speaks volumes compared to some places who have had to shut down or where staff are refusing to come in.

Not only that but everytime I'm in carpool whether it rains, sun shines or is below freezing cold they are waving and smiling underneath their mask and that says a lot to show up and to be positive while at it.
Especially not knowing what their individual or professional challenges they may be experiencing as well.

The school has to be doing something right because they were recognized for being in the top 20 charter schools in the state. Also, they have been able to stay open through the majority of the pandemic unlike some schools and their verbal reputation in the Wake County community has been positive overall.

To the Staff at WFCA I see you trying. I see you working hard. I see your smiles. I appreciate your greetings in the Morning and Afternoon. I appreciate the calls, emails and text. I appreciate the weekly newsletter. I appreciate the surveys. I appreciate you showing up. I appreciate you smiling through the challenges.Thank you for all you have done and all you do. Please continue to keep up the great work!
