“Dr. Deb Q. Hayes has been a solid rock of wise, intelligent support and guidance for me through a very difficult recovery from divorce and a long, difficult marriage. I share this part of my private life to offer encouragement to others that they are in a safe place with her; whether she is the therapist or a trusted referral resource.”

“I saw Noelle Ferree (Doctor of Physical Therapy, honors) for chronic TBI with visual complications. If your condition is not cookie cutter, I can assure you that you will want someone as smart as Noelle on your team. As a layperson it can be difficult to determine which doctors opinions are correct when they conflict. A neurologist gave me a blurry copy of a list of PT exercises to perform at home and told me that was all I needed. I could hardly read them and some said to be careful not to fall which is how I injured myself in the first place. Noelle explained that the exercises need to be switched up and repeating the same ones eventually becomes ineffective. With the concussion it was frustrating to be given tests that I could perform with above average scores, failing to identify the areas I struggled with in daily life. Noelle took me through steps for assessment and steered to the areas of weakness. The assessment was extremely helpful, for example, to know that I have excellent balance when I struggled with crossing over a log, as that identified the source as vision; it helped my confidence in many areas to know I had good balance, and similarly, other areas of strength. She advised me on such things as going back to work partial days so in case of vision shutting down, I would have time to catch up and not end up burning bridges. There are a lot of situations that can be difficult to "think through" with a "concussion" injury! I needed someone to think for me reliably. She definitely is working at a very high skill level and brings her skill to help individuals in a very practical manner, in moving forward in daily life, steps to getting back to doing as much as possible. She also was able to advise me to push myself, and to explain that brain healing is encouraged by going all out on 'good days' even if the next day will be a 'bad day' as a result. Otherwise I would not have known and might have coddled myself more. Noelle referred me to a controvertial practice, Triangle Visions (I will explain the controversy in that review), and by now I feel the referral was correct especially in that she was the one on my team who was able to identify vision as the primary injury - and she did this asking questions over the phone!!! While on the other hand, the neurologist sent me for costly tests that entirely ignored the potential for visual injury, even though I had seen him in person and had told him I was seeing double. LOL! For this reason I was most especially glad to have found Noelle, and I just had to ask a lot of questions and be patient to eventually learn which directions were helpful and which were not, and what info I was receiving was right versus all out there that is not. Noelle does not mind questions at all and has a great deal of knowledge, and a great communication style. She is all around competent and all of her advanced training shows. So if you have an injury with complications, I say, yes, you definitely need Noelle Ferree on your team!”
