Unlike every other doctor visit though, he quickly realized there were MAJOR problems. A severely deviated septum/uvula twice as long as it should be, both severely blocking airflow. During the scheduled surgery Dr. Gupta's expertise did not stop. Instead of just going in on autopilot to do a surgery I'm sure he has done hundreds of times before, he took time to diagnose an additional major issue. The only way my airway was getting adequate airflow was to be propped open. After surgery, I was referred me to UNC Dental School for maxillofacial surgery. 2 years after my first visit with Dr. Gupta-no more CPAP, no more napping, no more exhaustion, no more trying to simply get through the day to get to bed. “Dr. Konopka is the first doctor I visited who seemed to actually care about me! It was my first visit (recommended by my mother who has been a patient of his and had great experiences) he addressed all of my issues even though he could've said to come back another time for those because this is just an exam. He basically saved me two other visits by doing everything he could and he spent an hour with me!! Wow! He was very nice, caring, courtesies and direct at the same time. Made me feel comfortable to talk about any problems I've had and what I loved the most about the office visit, that not only Dr. K asked about how I feel emotionally, but the nurse did before him too (can't remember her name unfortunately) , which should be always recognized as a possible underlying reason for physical diseases! Especially these days when people just rush in their lives. So he prescribed me a new birth-control, a NON-ANTIBIOTIC anti inflammatory for muscle and joint pains, recommended over the counter cream I've haven't tried for skin condition yet, diagnosed my TMJ which I've been suffering from for years, and gave me a dermatologist and gynecologist referral, ordered a urinalysis and blood work right there at the office, so that's further points for having their own lab in the office. All that at first visit! Front desk was professional, and didn't have to wait longer than any other offices I've been to. Place looked clean except for the bathroom next to lab. I will see him in three months for follow up and hope to have the same experience again!”
