If you're anything like me, you want as much info as you can possibly have, at such an uncertain time. So, I'll share my experience, and things I observed, in an effort to help. First thing was walking in to a friendly and concerned face behind the desk, Amber. (That's what her scrub top said anyway. Lol. Short blonde, and multicolored hair.) My boy, Murray, a Guinea Pig was having breathing issues, and taken right back. I think they may do this to avoid having predator and prey animals in the same room though. They come out periodically to provide updates, and then once you get to a room, the doctor's assistant comes out to go over options, and prices. This part confused me because I told them I wouldn't be able to do x rays to check for the possibility of pneumonia, due to financial reasons. But, let's go ahead with the subcutaneous fluids, and antibiotics to treat an Upper Respiratory Infection, since he is still eating and drinking, and having normal potty habits. Apparently they didn't know I had said yes to this plan, so he was sitting back there for a long time on oxygen. So, you have to promise to pay the full amount that day either by Credit Card, Care Credit (which wasn't an option for me due to a prior identity theft, and my SS number being locked, and it was after hours), Debit, or Cash, before they'll treat your baby. Which feels like an awful practice at the time. You want to scream "Why are we discussing money right now?!" But, if they continued to provide care without upfront payment and those people continued to neglect their debt, the animal hospital would be unable to continue on without pet parents covering their own baby's costs. Back to Amber, she was exactly who I needed at that time! Kind, funny, patient, and very understanding. I witnessed a patients parent come in to pick up the end-of-life gift bag, with paw prints in clay, the heart of the place really showed. They also are 100% kind and caring when you call back in with questions! Thank you so much!!!

This team did everything they could to save Bean, a 4 week old sickly kitten I found. They were professional and communicative even through multiple rounds of doctors. Even though he didn't make it, they were patient and helped me through the grief. Thank you for your kindness. ❤️

We had to have our Boxer Einstein euthanized on New Years Day because on New Years Eve he continued to have seizures all night and we knew we had to do the right thing and the nurses and doctor were very kind, sympathetic and did everything I asked of them. I asked them if they could pick him up and put him on the table (he's 80 pounds) so I could hold him and comfort him because I'm not able to sit on the hard floor and they said absolutely. I got to hold my boy and help him cross over the rainbow bridge. It will be a week on Saturday he's been gone and I'm missing him so much. Thanks Medvet for helping me help my baby to cross the bridge. We had him cremated and the presentation was beautiful.

I am fairly certain that this place saved our budgie's life. He suddenly started acting sick on Christmas night and wouldn't move or eat the following day. We knew that if birds appear sick it's usually too late to do anything so we had to act fast. There weren't any vets open in our area (Pittsburgh, PA) that could see him urgently, so we made the 3 hour drive to this hospital. They took him in and treated him urgently, keeping him warm and supplying him with life-saving fluids and medications. If we hadn't taken him here I don't think he'd be with us today. They felt that he was ready for discharge the next day but we kept him in their care for an extra day because we wanted to be absolutely sure that he had recovered and cost wasn't an issue when it came to this little guy. Today he's doing much better, back to his old self and we couldn't be happier.

The staff here is incredibly professional and they treat their patients with the utmost care. Although I hope we never have to take any of our pets here again, we would gladly drive the distance and spend the money needed to give them the top quality treatment that is offered here. Big thanks to the staff and facility for the great work you do. Thank you.

The staff at this place makes you feel comfortable, that your pet is a priority, even if their case isn't considered "critical ". I will say the wait was probably too long, ( approximately 17 hours for me) but the staff called every 2 to 3 with updates about care, pain relief, and over all well being of my puppy. For that alone, it was worth it! I've been to another place where I was told they were being treated, when he wasn't, and as soon as a new case came in, regardless of the severity, he was placed on the back burner. The costs was a bit much, I wish they had other options for financing, the do work with Care Credit, but if your score isn't good enough, be prepared to shell out a few thousand for their services. Either way, I fully plan to keep using medvet as my go to emergency place!
