I've always loved eating here as a little girl. As an adult, I haven't been in. I'm hoping the delicious food and great service is just the same as it used to be. Just a nice, easy going diner where customers can enjoy a nice, judgement free quiet space.

Set up is pretty cool especially the bar area with the adjustable glass barriers. Barriers placed between booth to allow a safe dining experience. Also if you haven't tried the gyros I think you should. Just sayin'

It is nothing fancy and it has that Hometown feels laid-back and comfortable. I live in Columbus OH there is not one real close to me but I've been to the couple they do have around probably five times. Every single time I have an opportunity to be near a Shades believe me I am going to eat there. Every single thing I have ever had is absolutely fantastic. Their macaroni and cheese their French onion soup EVERYTHING.

Excellent Philly beef steak with spicy cheese sauce with extra onions because I don't like mushrooms, served with fresh hot fries. It was very hearty and meaty - no skimping here! The lemonade was good too - not overly sweet - just right! ?

I was totally happy and satisfied. Ambience was very nice. Nice family and social atmosphere. My first visit was great!

I enjoyed my real deal Philly meal and experience at Shades on the Canal. Highly recommend you visit.
