Our home is in Dublin near the Scioto river and has wood siding and wood-framed windows. It is now a little over 30 years old. Many of the windows no longer functioned and the seals had failed. We began our search for a company who would/could do repairs and replacements in the Summer of 2018. Several reputable window companies came out to look and were unable to help us. The windows are high off the ground on a sloping lot and the original window manufacturer was out of business. While we had a good number of windows that needed to be replaced we were also keeping many so a cohesive uniform look was important. We were given Dan Messer’s name by a specialist contractor and invited him out to look at our window situation. Dan made a very thorough inspection of our windows and spent time talking with us and explaining procedures.
We were a bit startled to receive a bid to prepare a bid but we realized preparing the bid would be a great deal of detailed work which would be done by the actual carpenters, and also removing and boarding up the windows to replace is work, so we agreed. Not only did we need to replace about ten windows but ten others needed repair. It took months to find a window company that could make the exact window profile we needed but they were found. We received a detailed estimate for the work and Dan reviewed it all with us. Scaffolding would be involved and we made the decision to have Dan/Exceptional One bid on siding repair and replacement then staining to be done at the same time. This would turn out to be a large and expensive project but we truly felt Dan had the experience and skills to do all the work well. We met more of his team and our confidence increased. Adam, the overall project manager was in frequent contact, kept us informed and asked checked in about how things were going. Abbie in the office did a great job with the contracts and updating us on info and changes to the schedule. Jim the Carpenter is skilled and a fine problem solver-he was able to use the wood and glass from a window being replaced to fix another to save us money. Ever, the construction manager, was also very good at his job. We had different crews at the house for different aspects of the projects but everyone stayed busy and the work progressed well. The workers were considerate and respectful and we also felt they were trustworthy. Very important as they were in and out of our home on a daily basis for several weeks. There were a couple of times where they discovered there was more work than they expected – our chimney and siding around sliding balcony doors, but they photographed the disrepair and again prepared additional estimates and sought our approval before moving ahead with additional work. We are very satisfied with the quality of the work and how it was done. We have asked Exceptional One to bid on a new project – expanding and screening in our balcony.

These folks are great. They don't B.S. you about cost or timetables, and work tirelessly to complete projects quickly, with impeccable attention to detail.
