Randy is kind, accomidating, and professional. He knows everything there is to know about hot tubs, and I would recommend The Poolside Shop to anyone without hesitation.
We started using the Poolside Shop shortly after our pool was installed. We had another pool company put ours in. While they did a great job putting it in we kept having problems getting the pool water stabilized. If the chlorine was good the ph was off; if the ph was good the chlorine was high. This went on for a couple of years. (Thankfully that establishment is no longer in business.) As anyone owner can confirm, it's exasperating when one's pool water just won't cooperate.
On a whim, one season when we were opening our pool, we tried the Poolside Shop near us on Alexis Road. We met Gary, the main guy at this location, and he started us off by giving us a log sheet we use each time we bring water in for testing. In this way both he and we can keep track of our treatments. He gave us specific instructions on what we needed to do and when we needed to. In just a couple of trips our frustrations began to subside. The water began clearing up and we were ready for the splashing to begin.
Then three years ago, Gary talked to us about a relatively new filter product: glass. We were skeptical because our sand filter was working just fine - so why mess with success? As he explained, the glass media would give even better results. We finally agreed and took the plunge (no pun intended). I had to take all the sand out. The smell was disgusting.
The results? Our water seemed silkier and we noticed a minor decrease in chlorine usage.
My advice? If using sand media please make the switch to glass. You won't regret it. One has to use a supplemental treatment once a month but it's a small price to pay for better filter function. Further advice? Use the Poolside Shop. We've used them for 13 or 14 years...they know what they're doing and won't steer you wrong.
Always helpful! They have never steered me wrong with help. A little pricey but then again what isn't pricey when it comes to a pool.
Pool testing and their expertise of adjustment is free so I'm not complaining. Skin feels nice now that I've adjusted all levels to where it needs to be. I guess if you don't like waiting in line for free pool testing you could always just get your own pool testing drop kit?
