  Beautiful little preserve. The trail itself might only be one third of a mile, but the close-in parking lot is closed and it is a 1/3 of a mile each way to get from the new parking lot to the trail head.

  Beautiful trail around Bog on Dr. Peder and Margaret Otterson 's former "farm"/home. I miss my in-laws; they sure made the right choice protecting the land and the pitcher plants.

  One of the coolest bogs I've ever been to.
  
  Watch where you step, bring lots of bug spray, and don't pick any of the plants. They'll die if you try to remove them.

User (15/08/2017 20:29) Just a short boardwalk through the woods/bog & one bench to sit by the lake. No pets. One lane road entrance requires backing out if another vehicle comes.

Portage County-Triangle Lake Bog exhibits all of the attributes of a... classic "kettle hole" bog. At its center is a cold deepwater lake over 35 feet in depth. Surrounding the lake are concentric communities of similar vegetation from the water's edge to the higher surrounding landscape beyond the bog basin.
