Sand Run Metro Park-Big Bend Area

Great trail to bring pets on as well as bikes. The trail isn't paved but it's almost a sand rock. Only downfall is if there is rain, part of the trail (if you take a side leg) can be flooded but it drains fairly quickly. Also a nice spot to relax by the water on those hotter days.

Great area to start your hike on the Towpath. There's a small lake that is used for ice skating.

Great walking trail along the old canal towpath. Well maintained paths, mostly gravel with some paved and boardwalk sections. Bathrooms every couple miles. We parked at Big Bend and walked down to Lock 15 brewery, 3 miles south, had lunch and walked back. A great way to spend a sunny day!

Had a great time taking a walk in the rain! It was very peaceful! I would love to come back during the summer!

A tree fell in the forest and stop the train at the beginning of my visit. Love this Trail great for kids nature is so friendly. Always a great experience
