Our daughter has been taking guitar lessons from John for over 4 years. When she started, she was timid and quiet. John was very patient and kind with her. He challenged her, but never so much that she felt overwhelmed. Over the years, she has grown into herself and her guitar playing ability. John still challenges her, patient with his teachings, but now they laugh and sing and have fun conversations together. My favorite part is hearing her sing. We are grateful for the time she's spent learning with him.
I have known John for the better part of 13 years and have been taking lessons from him for just as long. John has always been willing to work around my busy schedule, and he has pushed me over the years to improve myself personally and musically. Learning to play guitar with John as my teacher has taught me many intangible life skills that are hard to come by elsewhere.
John is patient when I'm having a bad day musically and is always ready and willing to explain theories or what it is that I am doing wrong so that I can improve on it. He is clearly passionate about what he does. He has made me a better guitar player and person.
My son has been taking lessons from John for almost 2 years. John is a great teacher - he is professional, passionate about music, and patient. As a parent I appreciate his flexibility when we have had to adjust our schedule, especially during the COVID shut down. He quickly pivoted to Skype lessons which kept my son engaged and moving forward when being in the studio wasn't an option.
My son doesn't like to do much. But he likes going to practice guitar every week with Mr. Bernard. John is patient, kind and makes learning the guitar enjoyable.
John is very knowledgeable and talented. He is passionate about music and it's obvious he enjoys sharing that passion with his students of all ages. Whether you're interested in learning to read music, understanding music theory, or simply wanting to learn to play specific songs, John will accommodate you. His prices are reasonable and he offers two studio locations. I have been taking lessons here for several years and have come to appreciate music on an entirely new level.
