My wife had to have surgery with a long recovery time. So our mother-in-law had to go into a nursing home as I couldn't take care of her and my wife at the same time. It was difficult to find a nursing home with a bed. Windsor Hills Nursing Center not only had a bed, but also the ability to provide the care that our mother-in-law needed. She has mobility and memory issues, as well as a lot of medication, which sometimes makes it very hard to care for her. Especially since she is fiercely independent.

Windsor Hills is a clean and well kept nursing home. It does have that patina of an old building, but in a positive way. They were doing some remodeling and painting when she first arrived, so they do maintain the building. They layout is simple and easy to get around in. My mother-in-law was able to motor about in her wheelchair pretty freely when she wanted to. The front door is accessed via a code to ensure only the right people get in and out. There was also a sign in/out book for visitors as well as a resident check out book for external excursions. Over all I felt it was a safe and secure environment.

The staff was great! The visiting hours are basically 24/7, so a few times I was there later in the evening. I noticed that there was always staff around and didn't feel they were understaffed, which can be a common issue at some nursing homes. While it can be stressful for staff in a nursing home, I didn't see it at Windsor Hills. When I visited the staff were always busy but always friendly, relaxed and always willing to talk with me. When there were any problems with my mother-in-law or they had questions, they would reach out to me and we'd get it worked out. My mother-in-law can be difficult at times due to her medical issues, so the staff was very patient with her. The physical therapy team that worked with her also worked with me to design a program while she was there that would also help us take care of her in our home.

Social interaction was a big part of her stay at Windsor Hills. There were plenty of activities to participate in and I could tell the difference that made in my mother-in-law when I visited her. The residents were a big part of that. They always greeted me when I came to visit and would often ask questions. I'm pretty sure they didn't have any trouble engaging my mother-in-law, who is a natural social butterfly. Most of my mother-in-law's friends are in nursing homes, can't drive or have moved away. So it was a good experience for her. And she loved the egg rolls!

Overall, Windsor Hills Nursing Center was a positive experience for my mother-in-law and us. I would not hesitate to place her there again if the need arose!

All the staff dressed up for residents for Halloween celebration. Residents enjoyed their day. We chose to give more to residents this year with more participation and festivities than previous years. Our staff is amazing.

Great improvements from what I sssw in the past. new paint job. New administrator new don. The people who live there seem happier than they were when I first started visiting the building, it’s a little boring but it’s a nursing home so.
