Growing Together Playschool

We've been lucky enough to have both of our boys with Teacher Liz. She has been invaluable as a teacher, friend, and support system. The care and thought she puts into each individual child and family is remarkable. As a teacher myself, I have stolen her ideas for my classroom!

My first child has gone here for two years and my second just started. Liz is a fantastic teacher for kids transitioning into preschool! She leads the children through all the great Reggio curriculum in an intimate sized class, allowing them to explore and work together to create adventures. I also love Liz's ability to use positive discipline to magically keep kids in line and focused on working/playing together. We couldn't be happier with how our kids are growing under her wing.

Our child, now going on 3 years old, has been going to Growing Together Playschool over a year and LOVES it. Liz is exceptionally warm, communicative, and professional. It's a magical world of play, exploration, and learning that she and her family have created. The daily notes she sends home about the activities, foods, books, and conversations our child has engaged in with others are inspiring, and they were reassuring when we were first adjusting to being away from him half the day. We now send our child to another preschool nearby four days a week, but only because we need somewhere that offers full-day care. If we had our druthers, our child would be at Growing Together everyday.

Our son has been at Growing Together Playschool for two years, our older daughter attended with him for one summer, and our whole family loves the school and Teacher Liz. Our son says he wishes our house was in Teacher Liz's backyard! Every day is full of active, creative play, art, building, and music, both inside and out, including explorations of the natural world through gardening and lots of water play in the "river". Liz prioritizes and attentively nurtures social connections, emotional growth, and communication between her students. She is committed to supporting children find their voices and use them to express their feelings and needs and problem solve. Our family also participates in a cooperative preschool which we love, but we choose Growing Together when we needed more childcare than the cooperative offered. As a parent who was initially reluctant to drop my children off, I feel so connected to their day to day and trust Liz immensely. Liz provides families with a daily written account of their child's day, including their activities, amazing snacks and meals, and even quotes from throughout the day - my favorite part! She also posts daily photos of the children's play that are wonderful prompts for discussing school with your child. I also appreciate how with a school this size Liz is able to tailor the explorations of the class in directions that the children are most interested in. Thanks for your loving care of our children, Teacher Liz!

Teacher Liz is wonderful! She is always patient, thoughtful and caring. She approaches the problems which inevitably occur between preschoolers in a positive, solution focused way which allows all the children to feel good about themselves and develop confidence in independent problem solving. She creates activities around the children's interests which allow them to learn and discover in their own way. Under her gentle guidance, I have observed my son and his classmates develop wonderful skills in cooperating, finding solutions and expressing needs appropriately. A true home away from home.
