“Came in right at 7:30am after a run on Mt. Tabor and it did not disappoint. Buckwheat breakfast muffin = like a muffin form of delicious Cracklin Oat Bran. Chocolate cookie with some sort of millet or little seeds in it? Absolutely delicious. Others in my group got avocado toast and the breakfast sandwich. While maybe a little higher priced than I prefer for just a sandwich, it was delicious (red wheat biscuit). There was not a kids play area but there were books and a few toys. We loved watching the bakers work the oven! Will be back.”

It is amazing that even during these tough times for restaurants this location agreed to split their revenues with a non-profit to give back to the community. This location is only doing pick-up and delivery. Nobody can wait inside so most wait in their car or stand outside. I ordered the Capitol Appetizer Sampler and Chicken Spicy Noodle. The Capitol Appetizer Sampler is a pretty big size and well worth the price. I wish I got more sweet sauce. The Chicken Spicy Noodle was also good. I got the spicy noodle as a level 3 and I could tell there was some spicy but I should have gotten the 4.”

“WOW! If you're a soy-free vegetarian like me, Vertical Diner totally NAILED IT! I just received my order of my jackfruit tacos and they were delicious.Their Seitan Tiger Bites were incredible! “After a restless night of not sleeping in Portland, I awoke craving a strong cup of coffee and - after that - a Bloody Mary. So I searched for Bloody Mary buffets on Yelp and found Holman's not far from my lodging. This iconic and very vintage Portland bar features dark wood, dark lighting, friendly service, and a pretty delicious-looking breakfast menu. But, having just downed a giant caffe latte at the coffee shop down the street, I wasn't hungry so I just ordered up trip through the Mary buffet. For a very reasonable $6.75 I was given a pint glass with a healthy shot o' well vodka in it and sent to the back room where the buffet awaited. I gotta say, the selection of mixers and hot sauces was over-the-top impressive. And while the selection of add-ins was pretty so-so (um, no bacon or pepperoni sticks - what?!), it was enough to make myself a mean Mary to get the day off to a fun start.”

I visited shortly for takeout after the March shelter-in-place orders went into effect and this place blew my mind with how fresh its ingredients are, how delicious the sandwich combinations are, and how utterly adorable and eye-catching the interior decor is. If I didn't live 20-30 minutes away, I'd go here twice a week just to hang out and get work done (in "normal times") because it's just such a great vibe inside. If you want to support local business owners who really care about their community, then go to Sisters Gourmet Deli! The owners left a lasting impression on me - in the best possible way, they're just such good people - and the food was flawless (and priced well for the quality), so I'll be happily visiting them again soon!”
