I see Dr Berney and have for years she's the best and All the staff here are so nice and the doctors are thorough.
First off, my not giving 5 stars has nothing to do with my PCP. She deserves 5 stars. I’ll get into the reason I took a star off later in the review.
I see Alison Pfeffer. She is an FNP (family nurse practitioner). She is very nice, caring, considerate, professional, and an all around great primary care physician. She always tries to be as helpful as possible with whatever my concerns are, and takes the time to hear about what’s going on.
She is also on top of prescription refills. They’re typically done same day or the next day. Unfortunately I have multiple physical health issues, and take a lot of prescriptions. Without fail, my pharmacy’s refill requests are approved so quickly. It’s wonderful and takes a lot of stress off of me because I never have to call and remind them to approve the refill request (unlike some of the specialists I see).
Another big plus: she actually usually runs on time! And her medical assistant is really nice.
I would highly recommend choosing Alison if you are looking for a PCP! And for anyone who isn’t happy with the doctor they're seeing there, switch to Alison. You won’t be disappointed.
The reason I didn’t give 5 stars is that Pacific Medical Group really needs to hire more people to answer the phones. They typically have 2 receptionists that both check people in and answer the phones. The poor women work nonstop because due to the number of practitioners that work there, there are always people needing to be checked in and/or are calling. Every time I call I’m put on hold, sometimes for more than 5 minutes. But it’s not the receptionists fault, it’s the fault of whoever owns and/or runs the place.
That being said, I still find it totally worth going to Family Medical Group, since it’s not like I call them weekly.
I've never had any problems with any of the services or staff in the 7 years that I have been a patient. Everyone has been extremely professional and the care has been excellent. Most of the negative reviews seem to be problems patients have with their insurance companies that they then blame on the clinic. I certainly understand the frustration but, in my opinion, the criticism seems misplaced.
