Although one of the least visited sites of the Gettysburg Battlefield, it offers a perspective of the size a complexity of the armies movements during the multi-day battle. Down the road is Benner road, the Benner farm, and the town of Taneytown. The farm is little changed and still in the same family. One of the early politicians of the area was a Benner; and, Benners died in the war. The war was complex and in everyone's front yard in Gettysburg. Every farm was effected and livestock taken. Today we watch it on the History Channel. But, by visiting these smaller towns and less preserved sites you get a different perspective of the less romantic, less glorified, less distant Civil War.
