Very negative experience from our egg retrieval!! It turns out the anesthesia was not part of NYU langone and they have no idea what's the cost. And it is out of network. We called them to get the number for the anesthesia doctor bill department, and they can't even provide us a correct number.
From our insurance claims, we saw a claim with almost 8000$ (our responsibility part), for 15 minutes IV sedation?? Really?? it is outrageous.

Update:
After my complaint, they reached out and help us to communicate with anesthesia doctor's billing office. It turns out this is a surprise bill and should be cover by insurance.
Highly recommend Dr. Licciardi and the team at NYU Langone. Dr. Licciardi was so kind and patient. I felt taken care of without rush. An exceptional experience - special thanks to Rose, the coordinator, who took the time to ensure every question I had was answered.
The whole team was a delight to work with. Dr. Licciardi is incredibly caring and knowledgeable. While I saw a rotation of doctors during the many morning monitoring visits throughout my treatment, I never felt any disconnect. The entire team is well organized and operates efficiently. As fertility journey itself could be challenging for different individuals, the organization and efficiency of the care team is especially appreciated.
Update 6/22/23 - I’ve revised my opinion of NYU Fertility. I did end up going ahead and freezing my eggs with them because they took my insurance and other than my issues with the patient coordinator they were excellent. They’re super efficient, super knowledgeable, and it’s easy to talk to nurses if you have any questions about your plan - even after hours. After my retrieval I felt worse than I was expecting and the on-call doctor was so helpful and took such great care of me.
I don’t know if it’s just the patient coordinator I had, but I’ll share that my doctor was Dr. Liccardi who was nice but his coordinator Amanda is the only person I consistently had trouble getting in touch with and who was really uninformed compared to everyone else. Maybe she was new but I was trying to schedule a second round for myself and Dr. Liccardi told me to reach out to her and she’s been so difficult to pin down. So, maybe just go with a different doctor since you don’t work all that closely with any one doctor.
Original review:
Wanted to get egg freezing done here but to be honest I felt like it was impossible to get in contact with the patient coordinator. It just felt like they’re overly busy and couldn’t answer my questions about simple things like what to do about my IUD and the irregular / missing periods I have because of it.
It’s an expensive and time consuming process and it’s for something very important - preserving my ability to have children. Obviously I care enough about it to want to do things as well as possible the first time because timing is very important.
I just felt like they didn’t have time for me and were too busy to actually “take care” of me. Decided to go elsewhere after scheduling because of these issues
Gas was about the same price as the off airport locations $3.35 (9-4-21) and that's not the case at most airport gas stations. The restroom was clean and the store had the standard selection of snacks/ drinks.
Great food.Great drinks.Great stafe. 6 star. Paper bags are better for food packing than plastic bags. Let's save the planet.
