It's been some time since I've taken my son to Dr Bernstein. She was phenomenal, both with my son and myself. I HIGHLY recommend Dr Bernstein.
Ouch! It's a shame that the only other review so far appears to have been written by someone whose defenses don't permit entry of the truth. My experience has been the exact opposite. My family put the "fun" back in dysfunctional; when I was 11, my father committed suicide by bashing his head against a wall. This event and the domestic torture that preceded it resulted in the development of my "character neurosis", otherwise best described as a stunting of emotional development that tracked me through 70 years of life punctuated by many happy moments but also by such severe self-destructive thinking that I was in psychic pain most of the time. Cruel as it may sound, the old definition of a neurotic person, from many Diagnostic and Statistical Manuals ago, was "A chronic malcontent with disordered thinking." With perhaps a few qualifiers, that was me in spades. Sharon was able to show me in a very direct but compassionate way that I can stop hurting and start living. This is important to me because I'm dying of cancer and want to do so in some semblance of peace of mind. Sharon applies psychodynamic therapy primarily with children, but does accept some adult patients, notably those with end of life issues. She has saved me by teaching me how to save myself.
