  Great hike! But "moderate" difficulty? I don't think so. The peak is over 500 feet from the bottom. There were certainly people who went tearing up the path, but it's broken and uneven rocks and if you're not comfortable with that kind of footing it will be a challenge. In addition there are three separate sections that climb what would be multiple flights of stairs if they were in a building. It's absolutely a challenge for anyone who's not in excellent shape. (But I took frequent breaks and made it.)
  
  The view from the top is astonishing. The water is the the most astonishing shade of blue you can imagine. If I was a full time resident of Hiwaii I'd set a fitness goal of getting to the to without having to stop.
  
  Anyway it's a great hike, but I found it strenuous. And the Dole pineapple truck at the bottom of the mountain has the utterly delicious (Dole) pineapple whip snacks: an icy treat after the hike!

  A good hike up the crater wall with some rugged terrain and uneven ground. Plan on 30-45 minutes to reach the top, depending on your fitness level and crowds on the trail. Views from the top are AMAZING and well worth the hike. Plan on another 30-45 minutes on the way down, again dependent mostly on the crowds. The refreshment stand at the bottom serves well-earned rewards!

  Hikers of most skill levels/ages should be able to handle this. Fantastic view at the top to reward the effort you put in. It can easily be done in an hour up and down--or much faster if you hustle. Don't rush, take your time on top and take some pictures. Bring your sunscreen as there is little shade to protect hikers.

  Easy hike. Reward yourself with a coconut water. The guys selling the coconut will give you a spoon the eat to coconut after drinking the juice. It’s refreshing. My son loved seeing the barracks. Everyone should do the hike once for fun.

  I can not recommend Lynne highly enough!

  Lynne is the ultimate expert for anyone looking to buy a home. Throughout the process she kept us informed every step of the way which helped to alleviate any stress we may have been feeling.   Lynne was fantastic to work with throughout the entire buying experience. She is knowledgeable and professional - and communicated regularly. I highly recommend her - especially if you are buying in Southside and/or the city. We live outside of town and trusted her to steer us through the process. She was also able to offer local recommendations for ancillary services. 5 stars!
