  My mother died and I wanted to pay respects to her parents. I did not know them, they died before I was born. In fact, my mother lost both of her parents when she was a teenager. I learned that my mother had to bury each of then modestly, as she was still young when each of them died. I eventually learned that my mother buried her mother at Aulenbach, and her father at Charles Evans. Her parents died at different times, but just a year or so apart. I don't know why she buried them separately - but I had hoped to find out. This was a difficult journey for me. I didn't know either of my grandparents. I had limited information - my mother didn't speak of them much. I believe this was because she was hurt by each of then passing while she was so young. I also believe that she struggled to provide final resting places for each of them - she was only a teenager and trying to do her best.
  I learned that my grandmother was buried at Aulenbach; my grandfather at Charles Evans.
  My attempts to find my grandmother's grave at Aulenbach was one of the most painful experiences of my life. I was not allowed such information unless and until I agreed to pay the strange lady who had the plot map of graves a lot of money for past and future perpetual care plus money for a headstone (my mother apparently couldn't afford at time of burial).
  
  HOWEVER, when I went to Charles Evans and asked for help in locating my grandfather - I was met with open arms. I was immediately assisted by a lovely person who not only located my grandfather's grave - but also accompanied me to see it. I was told of my grandfather's military record and the honors that he was given (apparently, such information is in their records and they are not hesitant to share). They were wonderful.
  
  I was treated with respect and kindness. Moreover, I found that my grandfather's grave was treated with the utmost respect. Flags and flowers had been presented in honor of his military service for more years than I had been alive. Again, not only I, but also my grandfather have been treated with the utmost respect and kindness at Charles Evans.
  
  Each time that I visit Reading, I go to two places: Aulenbach and Charles Evans. At Aulenbach, I only search for answers. At Charles Evans, I find peace.

  My grandpa and grandma plus uncle are bury at this cemetery and I love going there a lot it peaceful and quiet I love nature and the people that are resting forever and ever !!

  A nice place to take a walk. Many family plots along with veterans plots that are beautifully designed and maintained.

  Very scenic Victorian cemetery, with a very impressive Gothic revival gatehouse. Very well cared for, great for photographs or picnics.
