Nishay has been working hard on his journey to try to obtain his black belt for over three years. When Nishay was 7 he thought it would be fun & challenging to exercise & become stronger with self discipline and control. On the first day Nishay immediately fell in love with Action Karate. He also enjoyed the relationships that were being developed with fellow Black Belt Trainees.

We have seen improvements in his focus and preparation as a part of his training. What Nishay did not realize is the Black Belt training is as much mental as it is physical. We have seen improvements in his empathy towards others as well as his courage and inner strength. When he's upset at a situation we always remind him of his training and to channel the anger in a focused manner.

He is now ready to take the next step & becoming a Black Belt in December. This pre-test will be an indicator of his progress. Thanks to Mr. McCreery, Mr. M., and the rest of his instructors for their guidance!

    Matteo's Story:

Matteo's martial arts story started six years ago during preschool when he had his first taste of karate. In those first classes Matteo became exposed to some of the martial arts basics and learned the importance of self-discipline and self-control. While those introductory classes were a good first step, his martial arts journey didn't really take shape until a little over two years ago when he joined Action Karate Chalfont. Up to that point Matteo had often struggled with prioritizing his responsibilities over leisure time and had a hard time focussing on schoolwork. Much of these struggles were rooted in a lack of discipline and in a lack of self-confidence.
Action Karate has been key in Matteo's development in his confidence and self-discipline (as well as many other areas of self-development). We have seen very notable improvement in his commitment to his responsibilities and his ability to engage in his work. As he now approaches his black belt we can't be more proud to see how he has taken on a black belt attitude in his daily life!

Nathan’s martial arts story starts when he was four years old and first asked us to do karate. Two years later, we finally agreed and Nathan took his first karate class. From the beginning, Nathan loved the entire experience. Unfortunately, his enthusiasm was not quite matched by his self-control. Nathan’s struggle is to maintain his focus and always strive to do his very best, rather than be distracted by the many social distractions around him. Over the years, he has continued to improve in this area. Just last week, his teacher told us how much Nathan has improved in striving to do his best and maintaining this direction without help. We are very proud of Nathan’s improvements and look to see continual improvement in this area.

10/25/18 My martial arts story starts in the summer after first grade. For Valentine’s Day in first grade, I got a postcard inviting me to try karate for free. My parents took a little convincing, but they finally let me try it that summer. I had a mini-lesson where Mr McCreery taught me some of the basics of karate like natural stance, always having eye contact and using “Yes, sir”. My parents and I decided that karate would be a neat thing to do, so I started to attend classes. After three years it was time to test for my junior black belt. This was a challenge for me because even though they prepared us very well, I still didn’t know exactly what it would be like, and I was very nervous. When it came to do my test, all my butterflies left my stomach and I persevered through the day. I felt accomplished and appreciative at the end of the day when I received my black belt. Since that time, I have worked on honing my skills and preparing for the senior black belt test. I still feel nervous about the process, but I know I am prepared. This was extra challenging this time, because in June I broke my arm. I was not allowed to do karate until the beginning of September. When I returned, I felt rusty and out of shape, but I have worked hard to get back on track. I look forward to the physical and mental challenges of that day, and hope to have success again.

I have been practicing karate at Action Karate New Britain (Chalfont) since I was in first grade. Since earning my Junior Black Belt, there were times that I wanted to skip classes or quit going all together, but I stayed with it. As I approach my test for my 1st degree Black Belt and have been reviewing and practicing my self-defenses and katas regularly, I have noticed an increase in my confidence and determination. I look forward to the Black Belt test and to hopefully be able to say that I earned my Black Belt once again!

My son Felix started his Black Belt journey at Action Karate Chalfont when he was eight. He knew quickly that karate was something he would like to stick with. He joined the Black Belt Leadership Program at the orange belt level. Felix loves karate and has enjoyed the journey to Black Belt. Karate has made him stronger, more focused, and much more confident. He has made friends in karate that he will have for many years. He is looking forward to the next steps in his journey, including joining the Junior Demo Team and earning his Senior Black Belt. Thank you, Action Karate, Mr. McCreery, Mr. M, Ms. Danielle, Ms. Sue, Ms. Shelly, and the many others who have helped Felix since he started. We are big fans of Action Karate (did I mention that I am a student as well?).
