Great teacher, great drummer. Explained a concept to me in about 3 minutes that I've been trying to figure out for quite a while.
Jim has been teaching my son for about 3 years. My son has improved so much since then and gets so much out of the lessons. He is a great teacher and a nice guy. Jim is very easy going and will work around any schedule you have. My son wanted to ad that "he is hardworking, a great drummer, and a great teacher!!! We highly recommend Jim to anyone who is serious about drumming!!!!
I've been taking lessons from Jim for 3 years, and he's been a great help to me as a drummer. He has lived the real deal pro-drummer life, and is able to keep our lessons relevant, while filling in the context of where I might use what. Also, I think I learn differently than many drummers, and our in our lessons, Jim has always taken theme to tailor his advice to my learning style, which has made a big difference in how I retain the information and remember it when I'm struggling at a gig.
He's also just a truly nice guy, and it never hurts to have another one of those in your life!
I have been taking lessons from Jim for about a year now. He's a fantastic teacher, and my playing has come a long way. Jim can tell exactly what you need to work on - whether it is a practice exercise or a song that contains the groove you are working to master. He teaches students at all playing levels and all ages...even old geezers like me. I couldn't recommend Jim more highly.
Jim has been teaching my son for close to 3 years now. Even when he moved to his own studio, 15 or so more minutes away from us, we stuck with him because he truly is the Best of the Best. I once suggested giving another facility a try ONLY because of distance to our home and my son refused. He is very loyal to Jim and for good reason. He is definitely worth the extra miles!! He pushes my son to be the drummer he knows he can be but always in a positive and supportive environment. I have recommended him to friends over the years, all of whom are still receiving lessons from Mr. Hines today. That is a true testament of his talent and who he is as a teacher and as a person.
