Great running trail with both paved and dirt options.
I am a huge fan of this trail (and so is my dog). I like to bring all sorts of people here because of the diverse difficulty options; there's a path for everyone! Trails are well blazed for the most part. The only difficulty (which might actually be a good thing as it prevents overcrowding) is that parking is extremely limited, and SUVs with bike racks make it even more difficult to squeeze into a spot. Because of this I tend not to come out on sunny, summer, weekend days.
This is one of our favorite preserves for walking and biking. It's right between Downingtown and West Chester and has three parking lots that you can use. The one by the historic covered bridge is often full, but you can find parking in the end heading towards Downingtown or by Skelp Level Rd. Side of the road is a better bet than the lot itself.
Bring your bikes or rollerblades, but beware of one or two mild, cold but longer inclines on the wide paved trail.
Beautiful scenery with river views, paths carved into the rock walls, peaceful trails in the woods and often a sighting of animals like a ???? or a ????
It is adjacent to the Brandywine Trail and Sugar's Bridge Nature Area. Brandywine Trail is paved and has only a small change in elevation. M. John Johnson Nature preserve and the adjacent Harmony Hill Nature Area have several dirt trails with moderate hills, some of the trails permit mountain biking
