This is a great place to visit for several different types of activities.. This is a very popular insert point for canoers and kayakers who will go Downstream many miles to their pickup point. There are hundreds of acres here, so it's a great place to walk your dog, go for a walk, go for a jog, and there is even a historic graveyard on the property that used to belong to a mental institution that was in Chester County near by many, many, many years ago. from my recollection it was probably the early 1900s where the mental institution would take their deceased patients to rest. it's a very peaceful place, and a nice place to visit if you have the time.
When ur coming across the bridge the left side it flooded out completely dont go that way but the whole rest of it is smooth sailing just alittle muddy right now :)
Nice preserve. A bit hot in summer as there is little tree coverage on the trails. Saw several deer, groundhogs and rabbits. The birds were too numerous to count. Stargazer Stone can be reached from a short trail located off the back of ChesLen Preserve on route 162. This stone marks the spot where astronomer and surveyor Mason and Dixon set up an obseratory which they used to in setting the Maryland and Pennsylvania boundary line. Lots of work being done to reverse the damage done by grazing cattle. If you have children be sure to visit Ollies Owl's Nature Play Ground.
Great place to put in to float down Brandywine
Great place to park! The gravel is very nice. It has a gray color! Great view of the road and entrance. I would recommend this parking lot to anybody who wants to go to a really nice parking lot! If you're looking for a great parking lot this is the place to go!
