  A hidden gem of a park brought to you by Chester County Open Spaces. A beautiful, quiet place with a lush variety of flora and fauna and a meandering network of paths and trails that belies the relatively small total area of the place. While common to encounter a local dogwalker or three, with attendant reserved retriever, dapper dachshund, or giddy Great Dane, it's also easy to find solitude as you stroll; easy to lose yourself in the birdsong and breeze-rattle of the branches.

  Great walking trails. Inner and outer loops let you pick short or long distance with a variety of terrain.

  George Lorimer Preserve is a wonderful place to take a short walk through forest, past a pond and through a meadow. I am always refreshed after my visit.

  If you are up for a nature walk or jog that's under an hour, this is a peaceful place to come. A pretty nature preserve on 88 acres of private land, it was originally part of an old farm property with woods, rolling hills, meadows and a small pond. It's a beautiful, 40 minute walk around the perimeter. There are many unmarked trails that weave through the preserve. It is not a public park but a preserve designed to protect the natural flora and fauna of the property so you'll see many varieties of indigenous trees as well as fox, rabbits, white tail deer, raccoon, heron..etc.
  
  If you're uncomfortable with the idea of you and/or your dog potentially running into one of these wild critters, you may want to consider one of the other open area public parks nearby. Be aware that the township requires that "all dogs must be leashed" when not on your own property. Because of this and the fact that the preserve was created to protect the wildlife, you'll have to fork over a hefty $1000 fine if you're found with with your dog off leash (and this is enforced). Because it isn't a public park, you'll also need to be prepared to bring bags to pick up after your dog and and expect to toss it in the trashcans by the main entrance.

  It's a very long winding set of trails through an old farm with a large pond, some of the trails are mowed in the summer,but all trails are walkable. Pets are welcome. There are no restrooms.
