Addiction psychologists regularly refer inpatient and as a psychologist and a certified alcohol and drug counselor about one third of my patients will need an inpatient rehab at some point. Most people don't realize that often it makes sense to try treatment on an outpatient basis first but when that doesn't work Mirmont is one of the best local places around. In addition to being connected with the Main Line Health System which offers additional layers of support, Mirmont is generally a comprehensive treatment milieu with state of the art facilities and empirical practices. They were one of the first local treatment centers to offer mindfulness based stress reduction and yoga. Their food is excellent and most of my clients who return from Mirrmont learn extensively about Relapse Prevention. Mirmont's level of care and quality of therapy is superior. I spent 3 weeks there and completed the inpatient program. The hospital offers holistic care, including Qui Jong, acupuncture, and yoga. In addition they have an EMDR program for uncovering and processing trauma. The program is 12 Step based, and many of the therapists and support staff are in recovery. I benefited the most from the VIPER program, a nationally recognized support group exclusively for those with emergency services or military experience. I found much solidarity and healing in talking with my VIPER brothers and sisters who shared my pain and challenges.
Recovery is for those who want to change, grow, and heal. Mirmont offers a fantastic opportunity to begin the process.
Amazing counselors, amazing facility. This place started me on long term recovery.
If you are willing, open and honest this is the place for help.
I was inpatient at Mirmont for 30 days. This is a top notch rehab facility. The counselors, nurses, clinical aids, and yoga/meditation instructors are all excellent. Depending on your insurance, you can spend several days in the detox wing and then get transferred over to the inpatient program. Almost immediately after the transfer, you are assigned a small group and an individual counselor for the duration of your stay. The staff keeps you busy throughout the week with yoga classes, mediation, lectures on addiction, small group with your counselor, and daily Narcotics Anonymous or Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. There is also free time to socialize with the other patients in the facility. Other than lectures and during meals, male/female interaction between patients is minimal and not tolerated. The food gets a lot of positive feedback here. There is a fresh salad bar for lunch and dinner along with a soup of the day. The running joke throughout the rehab is that they serve way too much chicken. I do believe this place saved my life, and allowed me to start living one again.
