I have been an Upper Providence resident for over 20 years and have been a customer of the By-Pass garage for my automotive needs. I have never had a problem with the service I have received and would recommend them to anyone. They are trustworthy and professional. I don't understand the negative ratings based on my experience.
i work in chadds ford and drive from glenside every day. I take 476 to route 1 everyday on my way to work. This morning, as I was on 476, right before the route 1 exit, by truck started "bumping" back and forth radically. i immediately thought it may be a transmission problem, as my 08 F150 is notorious for them. I randomly pulled off on the first exit available, the 252 exit on route 1. At the bottom of the exit, to my relief, was this sunoco and bypass garage. As soon as I pulled in, a guy named Steve saw me not getting out of my truck and came to ask if everything was ok. I told him my problem and he immediately jumped to looking at what the problem might be. I decided to leave my truck there and catch an UBER to work. The mechanic John looked at my truck and talked to me before hand. He gave me a list of potential problems and said he'd look it over as soon as he could. A few hours later he called me and told me not to worry, it wasn't my transmission, rather one of my cylinders blew out the spark plug and coil. i was super relieved, he assured me he could fix it and did just that. All the same day. I know this is the real problem, and not a ripoff, because the same thing has happened before but with a different cylinder. I was a random stranger to them, and if they had any inkling of wanting to take advantage of the situation they could have. If they were closer to home, I'd feel confident taking my truck to them for everything. John and Steve both get my recommendations.
Good old-fashioned local automotive car care. I live in Media, and these guys have helped me fix flats and have done a lot of work on my cars over the years. The price is fair and the work is great. They also sell the best Christmas trees, and I have been buying my tree here for at least 15 years.
