And it matters, because their principle is that the elderly will come out of their apartments, and be more social with each other and more willing to open up if they have more interaction with the other people in their community. If they want to cook in their own kitchens, they can, but they also have an option to join others so they do not need to eat or #feelalone. Residents are permitted to have their own vehicles, yet if they do not want the upkeep of a vehicle or they do not feel like driving, there is transportation provided so the residents do not feel like they loose their independence ... (and the staff is kind and friendly too.)
