I'm a two-time "alumnus" of Building 50. Yes, the scenery is bleak. More than bleak, it's awful. It's uncomfortable. It's drab. Cold and unwelcoming. The food is pitiable. I have celiac disease and their inability to accommodate my dietary needs is quite sad. But, I don't really fault MCES itself with all this. They are doing the best they can with very limited resources and a nationwide trend that believes in kicking the can down the road with regards to psychiatric treatment.

There was a staff overhaul a few years back and the quality of care has improved. I guess I'm biased as I credit MCES with saving my life. The quality of care from the staff was phenomenal. I'll take that over creature comforts, if I have to choose.
