As simple Appalachian Trail shelters go this one was fine. There is a privy and water that they are both nearby. Plenty of tent sites a little east of it if you don't get in. The trails to the north and south are both pretty Rocky. When we went there were a lot of people day hiking and backpacking through the area
Nice Shelter to stay at. we have used this in the winter and summer months while backpacking on the AT
Love the hike over here.
Very nice place to rest, water is available here
I hiked with a group from Wind Gap to Delaware Water Gap for an overnight section hike in early July. Kirkridge Shelter was the only place with water until we reached Eureka Creek near Delaware Water Gap. The spring near Wolf Rocks was dry. We camped at the field just past the shelter, although be aware this is a local "party" spot, and they are not quiet. The shelter seems nice, there is a privy and a water spigot a short walk up the path to the retreat. There were maybe 8-10 tent spots right near the shelter. We opted for the field to give the thru hikers more space at the shelter.
