Belmont Plateau. Yesterday I took a mini Residency in the Van. Went with Carlos to Belmont Plateau to enjoy the sun and do some editing. We also created 2 short postcard/haikus inspired by the moment.
Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park System is an iconic piece of real estate that has hosted thousands of runners over the years. In August 2013, the USATF measured and marked the various course to make the distances official - including 2K, two versions of 3K, 4K, 5K and 8K.
To get to Belmont Plateau, you can hop the Route 38 Bus. This is the only bus that will get you close. The Route 38 begins on 5th Street (north of Market Street) and finishes at the Wissahickon Transportation Center. You can also reach them by phone at (215) 580-7800.
A new set of maps has been created for the cross-country courses run at the Belmont Plateau. The courses include 2K, 3K (two versions), 4K, 5K and 8K races. Our local course certifier extaordinaire, Bill Belleville, certified and mapped the courses.
