“When in the room(for a yearly checkup), after I gave the secretary my insurance card and was given the ok to have a seat. I was then taken to my room and my vitals were being taken the secretary came in and said I had to leave and they couldn’t see me. Because my insurance card had the name of Doctor Young as my PCP. But my insurance is good and allows me to see any doctor I choose. She then proceeded to tell me that I had to leave or call my insurance to verify that they will pay for Dr. Joe to see me, because Dr. Young no longer is at the practice. She told me to leave and they cannot see me several times. Then left the room. I called my insurance which told me what I told her, when I went back out of the room to tell her what they said, she didn’t even want to hear it, and was dismissive to me. She was rude and completely unprofessional, Dr. Joe Zawisza came in and I told home how I was treated and he shrugged it off and took the side of his secretary. When I told him I didn’t want to stay because I was to upset, he said fine. I told him we will find a new office, he said tell us where to send your records. I was mortified. I’ve never felt more discriminated against in my life.”
