We lost our baby girl Nikki this morning. I cannot say enough about the staff at the Brandon Clinic and their professionalism, their kindness and thoughtfulness, and the beautiful way of handling the sudden loss of my girl. I couldn’t have asked for better care for my girl and for us during such a difficult and sudden loss. They put my girl first and foremost before even discussing the financials. Thank you, thank you thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all you did for her and us.

Our 16 year old miniature schnauzer started declining pretty quickly with mobility issues and dementia with panic. It was obvious he was suffering and unhappy and we had no more medical options to try, so we made the difficult decision to euthanize him. Of course, this was over the 4th of July weekend. Our vet could not accommodate him until late afternoon of the 5th, but we didn't want to wait that long so we took him to Blue Pearl in Brandon. We called ahead and every person we interacted with was extremely compassionate. You could tell they really felt for us and understood our pain. They have a special quiet room that's nicely decorated with a sound machine and a call button, and they let you spend as much time before and after as you want. They placed a good IV with a long extension line, so we were able to keep our pup on my husband's lap, where he was most comfortable. Someone put a lot of thought into these types of things and while it was absolutely horrible for me, I appreciate that they made it the best it could be. We got his ashes back in just two days and they were very kind again to my husband when he went to pick them up. The staff there have a very difficult job and I will always be grateful they helped us do the last, best thing we could do for our best buddy.

My dog needed to be seen on a Sunday. I called and they said “of course you can bring your baby in.” I showed up with my golden retriever and my 5-year-old daughter (my hands were full.) The staff were all so friendly to all of us. The vet tech who helped us was great with both my dog and my daughter. Dr. Emma Byers was knowledgeable and so friendly. She even gave us a “prescription” (water) for my daughter’s stuffed animal puppy she brought in. The vet tech (so sorry I forgot her name!) explained the instructions for my daughter to administer her puppy’s medicine. Great experience all around and our REAL dog is feeling much better!!

Unfortunately, like most people we found ourselves here in undesirable circumstances. Our sweet dog was hit by a car nearby. The staff at Blue Pearl was truly amazing. They were so kind and compassionate to our sweet girl and to us. Our story ended in a tragic goodbye but the staff’s compassion only continued. They gave us a special private time with our girl, in a comfortable and appropriate room where we could spoil her, snuggle with her and find closure in such awful circumstances. They were truly kind and loving, extending grace and empathy to our special needs child who struggled with this gut-wrenching goodbye. Emily was a blessing, walking through everything with us, answering all of my questions and reassuring us as we went.

Honestly - I hope I never have to see these folks again, but if I do, I know we will be in good hands.

I should add that we also consulted with other vets during the process and everything Dr. Hayes recommended was appropriate and necessary. The prices were to be expected for emergency care.

Had to rush my soon-to-be 14-year-old goldendoodle to Blue Pearl per my vets orders. They treated her kindly and sent her home with a prescription. Sadly, her disease had progressed too much and I was back just 36 hours later to send her to the rainbow bridge. The staff was so incredibly kind and supportive; that they made a stranger feel so comfortable in this most difficult time is commendable. Many thanks to the doctors and Kevin who assisted in this very sad time. My girl as I'll always remember her.

Let me start off by saying that this experience was as much educational as it was relaxing and therapeutic. Yesterday, I had my first massage in over 5 years. As a Crohn's patient, I have experienced lengthy periods of time where I was not able to be as active as I would have liked, I have undergone multiple major surgeries, and much more. As a result, my body has been in need of some pampering and re-tuning and this massage provided exactly that.

Having undergone major surgery, and being an ostomy patient, I had some reservations about having a massage, with my main question being “was it going to be uncomfortable or painful lying on my stoma?” I informed Mandy of my concerns ahead of time, and when I arrived, she was prepared.

I had no idea that there was a pillow specifically designed for clients who are pregnant or unable to/uncomfortable with laying flat on their stomach for medical reasons. She had the pillow set up and talked me through what my session would look like. She asked me if I was comfortable and ready and if I had any questions or concerns. Because of her thoroughness and her true care and concern for my physical needs, I knew I was in great hands.

The massage itself was exactly the relaxation that I needed. The combination of lighting, temperature and music helped to create a place where you forget about anything other than the fact that you feel the tension in your muscles melt away like butter. Mandy was very much in tune with what I was experiencing, whether it was enjoyment or discomfort. She noticed when I crinkled my face and asked whether or not it was painful and let me know that she could adjust, if necessary.

As I mentioned earlier, the massage session was very informative. As she was preparing to work on my legs, I asked a question that I have been somewhat concerned about for a while. I said, “this might be a weird question, but do my ankles look okay to you?,” to which she replied, “that’s not a weird question.” As a lymphedema therapist, she is familiar with fluid build up in the body. I noticed the puffiness in my ankles following my surgeries, but I have had it for a while now and couldn’t pinpoint exactly when I first noticed it. I honestly thought it was a result of my regaining weight after a long battle with illness, but it was, in fact, a build up of fluid, which can happen following surgeries such as the ones I underwent, in addition to long periods of being sedentary.

Being the excellent therapist that she is, she focused for a bit on my legs and worked to help break up the fluid that had built up and was visible in my ankles. When I got up from the massage and looked at my feet, I could see definition in my ankles, which I have not seen in quite some time. My straps on my sandals were looser today. To think that that much of a difference was noticed in one visit makes me excited to think of the healing ahead!
