The roll I was given while I waited for my food was warm and delicious, the country fried steak was amazing with the perfect gravy, the fried okra was crispy and fresh, the mac and cheese needed some hot sauce to make it great, but that’s more of a personal taste thing. Even the sweet tea was a perfect blend of sugar and tea. I was also called sweetie pie by a nice lady, and that made me feel right at home! 😁 All in all, a great, tasty experience!”

“Dolan’s was a fantastic experience, with reasonable prices and friendly patrons. We played pool most of the night and the on duty staff were attentive and helpful. Our only issue arose at the end of our night. One of our group was not paying attention and forgot to leave a tip on his (rather large) bar tab. One of the on duty employees asked if our service was alright and if the server who helped us did an acceptable job, and pointed this out. He was apologetic and fixed his mistake. The issue that arose for us is that several of the off duty employees were in the group we had been speaking with for part of the night, and an off duty employee by the name of Sarah became openly hostile and told us she would be happy if we left the premises, as these were her friends and none of them wanted us around, and then she promptly walked away with no explanation. Our bill, nor the amount we may or may not tip, is any of their business, on or off the clock. Furthermore, the manner in which she approached us was unacceptable in representing what had been an otherwise amazing establishment. Another in our group had not turned her bill in, and while we were happy to tip our amazing server, Sarah’s actions could have been a detriment in some people’s eyes. I found the on duty employee’s actions perfectly acceptable, as she was addressing what could have been an issue with a server, but was actually a mistake on the part of the customer. It was tactful and appreciated, as none of us would have wanted the wonderful staff to feel unappreciated. Sarah’s hostility towards us, with no explanation as to why she had suddenly done so, was not helpful, nor was it respectful. While her intentions were to help her friend, she soured an otherwise pleasant evening, and to be quite honest our bill and tip are not the business of anyone else, especially if they are off duty and drinking or singing karaoke.”

Service in Nolensville area establishments has been sometimes poor, in my opinion but not at Happenstance! We were greeted at the bar immediately when we sat down (a plus for Aaron!) and offered two glasses of water right away, without asking...love this! The cocktail menu is adventurous, fine tuned and impressive! Prices reflect that, so not sure we could come as frequently as we like, but the experience was well worth it! Met the owner and he was friendly and gracious. Will definitely come back.”

“The biscuits were amazing, the only thing was trying to get one. He quit serving except by request only. The hard part is to get ahold of the guy. He's been making breakfast in the Southall community for most of his life. He once was the breakfast cook for the old Halfway Market and before that with his grandfather, JW Little, at Kirk's Market and Deli once the only place in Spring Hill. He's an amazing breakfast cook. Now only available to a few people who are willing to convince him to come cook for them. It's not something that is for the cost concerned, but, if you have the budget and want a breakfast experience different than elsewhere and from a different place in time. I highly recommend trying to get ahold of him and demanding he make you breakfast... I won't say what we spent on the meal, but I will say that I was more than happy to have... It's just an experience... Like I said before, you will have to talk him into doing anything, but anything you talk him into doing will be the best version of what ever you want... It's just money, and just for breakfast... And just worth it. I think he said he does a maximum of 5 a year, uaslly for celebrities or family members... But, the right price will stir anyone to do anything... We gave him our old tractor as the way to get in touch with him, just to be able to ask him about it and what he does... He said he is an artist and they are only valued when rare. So he makes sure to be hard to find, get ahold of, and expensive. He also makes sure to be worth the effort spent on getting him to do it... Once in a lifetime, what is the price for the best breakfast you will ever have? A tractor plus, whatever his quirky request for payment is, uaslly not money. He told of a story where he asked for a few acres from one family, a place for one of his friends family to stay from another, he said next one is going to be a metal shop built on his land with a custom kitchen, you know he says, to make a better breakfast in... A strange young man but one who wants to be known for one thing.... Biscuits.... And being the only one that you never had... He loves his privacy so don't just knock, but send him a letter, I would include a gift if you want a reply... And offer him what you want to trade with... He no longer will accept money... Says he works not for money but for the love of it... He trades because it's worth it... What do you have that no one else does? He has his biscuits and knows what a great breakfast is worth... And how to make biscuit dough into biscuit legend. Good luck with getting one... I will remember it for a lifetime and always compare it to the rest... That's OK with me because, I tried the best... And, it was legendary to say the least, definitely a work of art.”
