If you’re a Texan who likes barbecue, you’ll like it. If you’ve never tried it, but want to, it would be a good place to start. Kids are welcome, but there will always be that loud group of people who feel like they own the place. People from around the world come here (there is actually a map where you can put a pin in). As a local, I come here a lot when on my way back from a state park. It’s worth a half hour drive. Just a notice, it is a very casual place: no plates, only butcher paper.
All in all a very good place for authentic Texan barbecue. I strongly recommend coming here.
Another FYI: This particular location is not worth a forty five minute drive when you can go to a different one in the area in half an hour. There are a few joints in other states as well.
Tasty and inexpensive BBQ in genuine surroundings. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. Staff is wonderful- they are patient and give out samples of anything you want. The Rudy's BBQ sauce adds great flavor to everything. The pickles are also surprisingly good.
I always make it a Point to visit Rudy’s when in Texas. They have the best brisket!! Last time, we ordered the brisket and smoked turkey. The smoked turkey is my new favorite!! Love this place. Fast service. Their barbecue sauce is excellent also. I have my sister bring some home to Michigan each time she visits! If you’re not sure if you want to order something, they will provide you with a sample.
It's Rudy's, "The Worst BBQ in Texas"! That would be true if everyday was opposite day. For a local chain restaurant, they're amazing. They delivery good food, amazing customer service at all of their locations. Be warned: They will offer you samples and you will take them and then you will impulse buy them and the only regret you'll have is that your stomach isn't bigger.
Great atmosphere and preparation of the meats.
One thing to know is to ask for moist or lean brisket or you just get what they cut. The moist brisket was tender and delicious while the lean was a bit dry.The turkey tasted great as did the sausage and baby back ribs. Nothing came out sauced, just as it should in my opinion. Of course they have sauce on the table if you want it but you surely don't need it. The creamed corn is to die for... thick and sweet deliciousness. The beans had a great flavor and texture and the coleslaw hit all the right notes. I miss being able to see the food on the pit but I can wait for Cooper's or Hard 8 for that. This is my last hill country BBQ for this trip and it hit the spot. Too full to get dessert this time but I will likely be back for more in the future.
