Was in San Antonio recently and gave a call to Little’s as they carried a leather I was interested in. Made an appointment for the next day. I was warmly greeted upon my arrival. Royal pulled a number of skins in the color I was interested in. Picking a skin was easy. At that point Duane took over to take measurements. It was obvious he had done this thousands of times. Based upon the measurements he returned with a number of boots to try on for fit. He asked how each boot fit. The measuring and fitting took close to an hour. Based upon my foot shape, Duane made his recommendations, all of which were spot on. I liked the fact that besides measuring Duane would be actively involved in sizing my last. Royal and I then spent another 20 minutes going over the texture of the leather for the lower. I made the right choice for my MTM boots.
The experience and product were excellent. I didn’t know a lot about custom boots so I asked them to make them a little larger. But after breaking them in, I realized I made a mistake. I wish they had stuck to their guns. But my mistake. I also was very disappointed in the selection of leather options.
I bought a ostrich skin wallet there 10-12 years ago. It was expensive but really sweet and some craftsman made it. It had to have lasted 8-10 years so maybe it was further back than 10-12. When my wife was in San
Antonio again she bought me another because the original was showing signs of wear. What a beautiful piece and now that I have had one, there is no going back. Quality-handmade, costs money, but is well worth it.
