    This trailhead is one of the newest on the Howard Peak trail system. It has a larger parking lot than the others, although I bet all the parking will be full on weekend mornings pretty soon. Primitive facilities (privy, water fountain) are provided. You can head south to Hardberger Park a d beyond on Salado Creek Trail, and the northwest trail connector to Leon Creek trail is scheduled to be open in Summer of 2020.

    Spectacular facility! Really well done, great array of maps and information in the congregation area. They’ve even included a water bottle filler in conjunction with the drinking fountains. The walkway is concrete, very wide and accommodating. Once all of the vegetation has had a chance to regrow it will be an absolutely amazing trail. Clearly lots of wildlife, plenty of deer and we even saw a snake. Very much looking forward to continued extension of the greenway north of 1604 all the way to the Rim ultimately.

    Great access to the Greenway Trails, water fountain, pots, ample parking and will be soon connected to Eisenhower Park.

    New trailhead extending the Salado Creek Greenway to 1604. Next extension to Eisenhower Park and connecting to Leon Creek Greenway expected to be done in 2020. Ample parking, porta-potties, drinking fountain and bike maintenance station at this trailhead. The section of the trail is pretty sunny, but there are some spots of shade to break it up.

    Roughly 10 mile distance from this point to McAllister Dog Park - 99% on paved greenway trails.

    The ONLY serious intersection of traffic light at Wurzbach Parkway & Jones Maltsberger Road -

    Three minor intersections on Wurzbach and Bitter's Recycling Center, at N North Loop road close to Wurzbach & 281, then crossing over N North Loop Road.

    You can realistically park here, then take the greenway all the way to Rittiman Road/Holbrook Road, then a little street biking to Jack White Park Trailhead then keep on biking the Salado Creek to Southside Lions Park Trailhead!

    Even better, cycle to Laurens Lane Trail Connection, and you can snake through the neighborhoods to reach Alamo Heights and make your way downtown.
