I would first like to say that Dwayne’s unique teaching style and techniques combined with his ability to reach deep and bring a persons talents to the surface are second to none in my book!!
I was introduced to Dwayne back in 1994, and shortly after became one of his students. One of the many things that I love about Dwayne’s teaching style is his ability to have fun and at the same time push a student to be the best they can be by providing a solid foundation and understanding of what they are doing. The great thing is he has the teaching experience to teach at the most basic level or the most advanced level providing everyone a chance to grow their skill set!!
On several occasions I left my lesson, looking like I had just run a marathon, and it wasn’t because of the temperature in the studio!!! Lol
About four years ago, I was presented with an opportunity to play bass at the local church church that I attend in Farmersville Texas. Being that I am married with three children it had been quit some time since I had been able to make it to see Dwayne. I have to admit having never really played on a stage before and seeing what was required of the musicians that played at this level I wasn’t sure it would be possible to pull off!! My first call was to Dwayne to explain the situation I was in. In his calm Dwayne voice he said,” We got this, can you be here Tuesday”? Within a few short months this man was able to go back remind me of the foundations of the base that he instilled in me early in my bass years and build on those as well as give me the confidence needed to get up there and play with some of the most well know people in the rotation today!!
If that’s wasn’t enough I had the blessing two weeks ago to take my 12yr old son Jacob for his first bass lesson with Dwayne!! Second generation bass player!! I’m here to tell you if you want to play the bass to the best of your ability, book a lesson with Dwayne do what he asks of you and hold on to your hat because you never know who you will end up getting the chance to play with!!

I have been taking bass classes since February and have noticed an astronomical improvement in this short span of time. Dwayne does a great job teaching everything a bassist needs to know from music theory to technique. With these lessons, I know that I'm learning the best way to play the bass and not picking up any bad habits that would hinder my progress. To compare, I had taken electric guitar lessons previously with another teacher for a year (weekly lessons). I was not good by any stretch. Now with my weekly lessons with Dwayne, I am able to do so much with the bass that I couldn't even come close to when I took guitar lessons. If you're passionate about learning the bass and are committed to improving, this is the right teacher for you!

Professional working bassist (a huge qualifier) Dwayne Heggar is the most amazing teacher! I've improved 1000% since starting lessons with him 6 months ago. He recognizes your stumbling blocks and knows how to help you overcome them. He teaches in layers, so you build on your skills every lesson. He knows how to push without being pushy so you can achieve your personal best and work past bad habits and mental blocks. He's fun to work with, very professional, laid back, and encouraging. I can't recommend Dwayne enough!

Dwayne is an amazing bass instructor. He breaks things down in a way that is easy to understand. His approach to both technique and theory has really provided a dramatic positive impact on my playing ability. I've learned more from Dwayne in a few months than I did by years self-teaching. I recommend Dwayne to anyone looking to either learn to play bass or to improve your bass playing skills.

Has to be the best in DFW! Dwayne is a great teacher! He’s a great musician who can help you get where you want to be. He teaches in such a way that will be challenging and he focuses on what it will take to get out out playing. Many of his students are gigging musicians. All this, and he is just a great guy who loves helping people. If you are looking for bass lessons - here is your guy!
