    TOP NOTCH PHYSICIAN AND STAFF
Dr Douthit was my 2nd opinion dr who became the primary ortho care giver for my fractured scaphoid bone. The 1st dr I went to disagreed with the radiologists fractured scaphoid bone diagnosis and placed my wrist in a brace that extended to the thumb. I was told by the 1st doctor it was ok to use my fingers except the thumb (this ortho doctor was part of my family doctor's physician group which is why I went there...for convenience). The next day my fingers were swollen from the tight brace along with a full blown out rash on my thumb. And when I called the doctors office, there was no urgent concern...only abrupt direction to put ice, and some over the counter cortisone cream for the thumb which was twice its size (my family doctor later gave me a steroid injection). Having had skin rash issues all my life that developed into blood infections, I knew I needed steroid shot & prescription strength ointment to avoid an infection. Since the nurse didn't seem concerned about my situation regardless of my health history, nor did she care to consult with my family doctor down the hall, I called Dr Douthit (he was the doctor who cared for my daughter's fractured heel 15+ years ago). What a difference!! He immediately diagnosed the injury as a scaphoid bone fracture that must be cast. Scaphoid bone has a tiny blood vessel in the bone that can be pinched from a fracture, killing the bone due to lack of blood flow. If that happens without a cast to keep it secure from any movement, surgery would be required. Arthritis would set in between 2-4 yrs if not resolved. Additionally, movement from my other fingers was NOT allowed as it would still create some movement from the thumb which must be kept immobile. This type of fracture requires approximately 12 weeks in a cast. Luckily, as I type this, it took my wrist 11 weeks to heal. After 3 casts, I'm in a brace, going to therapy to help with movement to eliminate stiff pain, and all looks like I'm healing nicely, in spite of the time I was put in a brace by another doctor which could have cost me 6 figures in surgery out of my own pocket had I kept moving my fingers without a cast (my new insurance started 2 months later). Apologies for the long review but I felt it critical to share the details. Going to a professional, experienced, well educated doctor can make a difference with your lifetime health. Dr Douthit CALLED ME HIMSELF PERSONALLY THE NEXT DAY AFTER MY CAST WAS PUT ON!! His concern was over my swelled fingers from when I first walked into his office. He did not want blood clots to form so he had me start taking aspirin for precautions along with the usual ice packs and elevating 2 pillows above your heart (count yourself blessed to have a doctor call you up to check in on you). The staff was top notch as well. My check-in was safe with awesome covid protocols in place, calls were returned promptly with compassion, patience and kind/calm voices (thank you Becky), my one rescheduled appt during the holiday due to family emergency was impossible but somehow still made possible (thank you Star)!! This in my opinion is a 5-star review, hands down and well deserved!!!

I have gone to him for an injury I sustained training, then my daughter went to him when she hurt her self. He is patient, he is very thorough and does not rush you out the door to get to the next patient. He has a process and tells you what that process is at the very beginning. His staff is amazing. I highly recommend Dr. Douthit and his team.
