(December 20, 2019, 1:18 am)This school has changed our son's life. Our son struggled for years. We tried 3 schools and homeschooling and even therapy... nothing helped him much. The staff here CARE about their kids and know how to help children like our son -bright and willing, but VERY anxious and needs some extra attention and help. There is no "one size fits all"... every kid is helped as that child needs.
My son is not only catching up academically - he is blossoming socially and emotionally.
I don't have a big enough thank you for Great Lakes, their administrators, teachers and staff. If you're on the fence about this school, and you have a child with ADHD, anxiety, or who is on the spectrum... who is wilting in typical schools, this place is the school home you've been looking for. -

(May 21, 2019, 8:03 pm)We can't say enough amazing things about how Great Lakes has impacted our son and our family. The teachers and staff truly love our children. We started in the middle of second grade with a child that had lost almost all of his self-esteem, was angry and felt stupid. He went on to make his first "best friends," which improved his social confidence all around. Now he can go anywhere with people he doesn't know and make friends. His grades are much more a reflection of his abilities versus just getting by. He's on the A/B honor roll and usually it's only 1 B. He's finishing up his 4th grade year and said this has been his favorite year. I never thought he would say that about school. Getting your kids in the right environment makes all the difference. We love GLA!!

It's a very small, non profit school for grades 1-12 that specifically work with kids who have aspergers, ADD/ADHD, and other learning differences. Everyone who works there is so warm and really cares about your child. The classes are kept very small and tailored to each child.
