CaltusRN and her staff were truly gentle, kind, patient and professional. Their eighteen months of care for our Mother was outstanding. At 96, Mom was fiercely independent and then suddenly she was declining and could no longer live unassisted. At Locardia, we found a safe and home-like environment near us that would adapt to mom's needs as they increased. Caltus coached the whole family through a myriad of challenging transitions. Mom's room was furnished with her personal furniture and decor. At Locardia, she enjoyed visitors, walks, shopping trips, hair appointments and drives about town until she couldn't. It has a large yard that our mom enjoyed. Locardia had weekly exercise class and activities led by an outside professional. Locardia house is impeccably clean. The only downside to this home was the shared bath and toilet facilities. It was less of a concern given need for assistance in hygiene matters and the superior level of cleanliness at Locardia. Our whole family felt welcomed and at ease at Locardia from the start to end of a life well lived. Mom was able to spend her last hospice days surrounded by her treasures, family, friends and loving caregivers at Locardia instead of the overwhelming hospital environment. Caltus is direct and open in her communication. She sees her residents daily. She is smart, swift and vigilant. She is a highly experienced Registered Nurse who advocates relentlessly for her residents' health and well being. She would often call to convey status and concerns and collaborate on the implementation of the care plan. She cared for our grandmother as she surely did for her own! A true advocate for the elderly, Caltus' business is also her calling.... a work of the heart.

Locardia Home Care is an excellent state licensed assisted living facility group home for residents who have memory issues, ...and who need a low ratio of caregivers per resident. Locardia does not accept more than 5 residents, maximum, and maintains a staff of 2 caregivers 24/7. The owner is a nurse who supervises daily activities and is on call 24/7. A medical doctor sees residents at the facility, and renews prescription medications. The facility operates as a group home on a large corner lot with extra front driveway parking to accommodate visitors, and blend inconspicuously with the West Plano residential neighborhood location. The owner and staff interaction intentionally promotes a family home environment for the residents. The owner's goal is that residents consider Locardia to be their home, ...and to always know that family members are welcome, ...and to know that the owner and staff are there to provide the love and care which the resident would receive from family members if living in the family home.
Meals are timely and excellent. Hygiene activities are considered opportunities for the staff and owner to constantly assess health issues which might need mitigation. Resident activities are encouraged. Walking paths are provided in the back yard, ...both covered and open. Security and protection considerations are in accordance with state and city requirements throughout the facility.
I am so pleased with the Locardia facility and its operation that my hope is that my wife will never need to move elsewhere for care. I took care of my wife many years, and Locardia has taken a huge weight off my shoulders. I am very comfortable that my wife will be properly attended in a loving and caring manner all the time, day and night. Locardia keeps me informed ;however, the facility staff makes daily decisions and tends to daily routine issues to give me some stress-free time now, ...but Locardia briefs me of course regarding matters they appropriately judge needing my attention. So the relationship Locardia provides for both the resident and the family is almost too good to be true!! I strongly recommend Locardia for any person needing successful memory care.
