This detailed review is being provided for people who are seriously considering having Collins Bros. complete restoration work on their Jeep.

Many of you have likely learned about Collins Bros from Dennis Collins's YouTube show, "Coffee Walk." The show depicts Collins Bros as if they are the foremost authority on Jeeps and Jeep restorations. In our world today, a lot of things are not always what they appear. I can confirm that these folks are absolutely as advertised. The shop's skill, care and craftmanship go well beyond Dennis Collins's encyclopedia of Jeep knowledge. Behind Dennis is a team of exceptionally skilled human beings. Kevin McCarthy, the service manager, was my primary point of contact during my Jeep's restoration. Kevin is a wonderful guy and would be aptly described as a passionate advocate for his craft.

I delivered my 1977 CJ-5 to Kevin in July. As promised, he looked it over within two weeks and provided me a detailed report on the work that needed to be done mechanically; his recommendations on the cosmetics; and some options he had found based on my personal requests. The estimate was thorough, it was detailed, and Kevin took the time to walk me through it answering each and every one of my questions. During the process, there were several things discovered that were unexpected. Kevin was prompt to provide me the information, careful to give me options, and fair on the cost of the solutions. He was also confident to always give me guidance on "what he would do if it were his."

I was able to watch the restoration evolve via weekly episodes of Coffee Walk. From there, I could email Kevin with any questions or concerns. He was always very prompt to respond, and even more prompt in resolving the issues/questions/concerns. My build was completed - as promised - in November, so it was out of my possession for 140 days +/-. I picked it up on November 21st.

I couldn't believe the quality of the work in person. It is world-class. The guys behind Dennis and Kevin that do the body work, the paint work, the mechanical work, the interior detail work, and the finish assembly are absolute craftsmen. I wish I could have had the opportunity to shake each of their hands and thank them personally for the work they did. It is on the razor's edge of being flawless. It was beyond even my incredibly high level of expectation. Every detail was meticulously completed with the care of a team that was doing the work on their own Jeep. I was absolutely blown away.

My grandfather bought our Jeep new in 1978. It has been under my stewardship since he passed away in 2007. I discovered Collins Bros in 2009. I followed the company, viewed work via online postings, and even talked to some other customers before I finally turned my Jeep over to them. I wanted to wait to see if bad reviews would surface; if Kevin would leave; or if the work displayed would show signs of apathy. The work only got better, Kevin never waivered, and the costs on restorations only went up. I should have done my restoration years ago... If you are considering a cosmetic or frame off restoration, let me save you some time. Call Collins Bros and ask for Kevin. Schedule a time to drop your Jeep off, and never worry about it another second. These guys are as good as Dennis makes them look on YouTube. You will not be disappointed.

When I picked my Jeep up, Kevin actually said to me, "Please take really good care of it." A guy who loves your Jeep as much as you do. That's who you want doing your work. Thank you to everyone at Collins Bros for bringing my Jeep back to life and preserving a connection between five generations of my family. I am so grateful to each and every one of the craftsmen that played a part in it. World-class work guys.
