I will forever be grateful to Dr. Sanders. I had been having my son evaluated since preK. I knew something was wrong but because he is profoundly gifted, everyone (pediatricians, psychologists, neuropsychologists ...) simply believed he was "quirky" due to his incredibly high I.Q. I couldn't get insurance to pay for therapy because I didn't have a diagnosis. Dr. Sanders did a thorough evaluation and provided a detailed report, explaining his autism diagnosis. I don't know how or why so many professionals missed the very obvious signs for all of these years, but Dr. Sanders saw past the giftedness and was able to identify the problem. My son was finally diagnosed at the age of 9.
Turns out, autism runs in families. My 3-year-old was unable to cope with 3 different preschools and 2 wonderful nannies. She started exhibiting OCD tendencies. Her anxiety was through the roof. I saw several pediatricians who told me she was entirely neurotypical, just shy. Her teachers believed she would eventually adjust, only after a year, finally admitted she might need help. I reluctantly went to Dr. Sanders again, truly believing she'd tell me my daughter was just a shy, stubborn kid with attachment issues she'd eventually outgrow. After a 4-hour evaluation, lots of questions and 3 weeks of waiting, Dr. Sanders provided me with a rare diagnosis of Pathological Demand Avoidance, a subset of autism that is hardly known in the U.S. at all. I was shocked and relieved at the same time. I have yet to meet a therapist or doctor who knows about this condition. The signs and symptoms fit my daughter to a T and I can now go about finding her the right therapy. Without Dr. Sanders, both of my children would still be undiagnosed and not receiving the help they need. I'm so grateful I found Dr. Sanders!
Dr. Laura Sanders has a competent staff who coordinates benefits, schedules appointments, and prepare patient with pertinent information in a timely and professional manner. Upon visit Dr. Sanders gave ample time to administer multiple tools and questionnaires. Feedback report given was in narrative style: concise, detailed, and easy to read.
Due to the shortage of private practice practitioners who understand and evaluate individuals with neurological-developmental disorders within the Dallas-Fort Worth area, we felt blessed to come across Dr. Sanders. From beginning to end it was a comfortable and professional experience for us.
As an adult with several symptoms possibly related to Asperger Syndrome or Autism Spectrum Disorder, I was initially apprehensive about being able to find a qualified psychologist who could provide me with a proper evaluation and diagnosis. After an extensive search throughout the DWF area, I was referred to Dr. Laura Sanders in Coppell, TX.
Prior to my visits with Dr. Sanders, she contacted my insurance company and was able to obtain the necessary preauthorization to begin testing. In my evaluation process, I found her to be professional, kind, courteous, and very attentive. It was also reassuring to me that Dr. Sanders has over seven years of experience assessing and diagnosing those with autism spectrum disorder.
I was additionally impressed by the fact that Dr. Laura Sanders took meticulous notes and then provided me with a comprehensive, accurate, and individualized evaluation report, which detailed my psychological background, mental status examination, behavior rating and personality assessment inventories, and finally my intellectual assessment. She also included several recommendations to further assist me beyond the diagnosis.
I would highly recommend Dr. Laura Sanders in Coppell, Texas to anyone who is interested in obtaining a proper diagnosis for any sort of behavior or learning disorder.
