  We love visiting cedar ridge and hiking the trails. It is beautifully maintained, lots of different trails that interconnect so you can tailor your hike to the difficulty/length you want, and everyone is really friendly. Lots of people hiking with their families and pooches, and it also is very safe for solo hikers as well. In the spring they have loads of wildflowers for all your family photo needs, and lots of vistas and overlooks to enjoy the scenery. There's also a pond with fish, turtles and frogs. Bring your lunch and picnic, spend the day or just an hour. Definitely worth the trip - you're basically utilizing the Cedar Hill State Park area without paying the fee. Only downside is sometimes parking can be a challenge, but that's minor in my book.

  This preserve is excellent and we'll maintained. The Cedar Brake and Fossil Valley trails are great if you seek mostly shaded trails with plenty of slopes. I enjoyed the distinctions between trails and the good signage at trail intersections along with mile markers every tenth of a mile with an arrow toward the trail head. I'll definitely return since I was impressed with my experience and this preserve is comparable to my favorites in the metroplex.

  Large nature preserve on the outskirts of Dallas. Visiting in late summer, there is still plenty of tree cover in many places. There are a few couple mile dirt/rock trails. The elevation change and stairs are a welcome feature I personally liked. We saw lots of families and kids, so the trailed are fairly well maintained. No entrance fees either! Go when it's not too hot out, and bring water. There's no water on the trail

  Took me 2 years of living in Dallas before finding this gem! I thought "Dallas doesn't have hiking trails" and I was wrong. I loved how many people were there at sunrise so I didn't feel alone in the area. Great trails, but they are not very long if you're into longer hikes.

  A beautiful preserve awaits you, if you decide to come, with quite the crowds to explore its grounds. There was a line for parking because if you do not get there before 8am it’s going to be very difficult to snag a spot. It has trails for all levels of intensity and the longest trail is about 2 miles long. I’d recommend to take plenty of water and snacks or maybe even a picnic to make it a day at the preserve. Picnic tables are available for those who want to bring meals.
