My 3 oldest children have/are attending MCHS. My last is waiting in the wings.
1. Pedagogy: Montessori. If you are not familiar with this philosophy of teaching, googling it would provide a better summary than I could hope to provide. The school is AMI accredited and, as expected, follows this methodology of teaching. The school offers a “Montessori Information Night” for prospective parents - worth attending. So, if you do not agree with this philosophy, this is not the school for you. If you do, it is a gem.
2. Guides: There are 4 guides/classrooms at the school. I have experience with Ms. Toni, Ms. Julie, and Mr. Sharath. I cannot say enough nice things about any of these teachers. They are professional and knowledgeable. Each classroom has its own character - following the individual personality of each teacher.
3. Administration: Ms. Christa (director) and Ms. Kathy (keeps everyone going where they should) know each child and family by name. I think this in and of itself says a lot about the school.
4. Opportunities to be involved: Although direct involvement in classroom day to day activities is limited, there are plenty of opportunities to be as involved as you wish. Personally, I have been a room parent, and the experience has been nothing short of transformative. The sense of community at the school is magical.
5. The facility and grounds are beautiful - a peaceful setting in which to learn and thrive. An oasis in the middle of Dallas.
6. Cost: reasonable, especially when compared to the other schools in the area.
Writing a review today, but have been recommending to people for 15 years, starting from when my daughter attended it. Awesome school philosophy, awesome teachers and support staff - I had seen my child blossom here, make friends, we have many fond memories of our time with Montessori Children's House and School.. The school is well-known to private schools in Dallas as a feeder school, and always finds a place of pride among the top Montessoris in Dallas.
MCHS Is a great school. The location is beautiful. It is a paradise in the middle of Dallas. The teachers are awesome, the Director is caring and hard-working, the front-desk administrator is a gem of a person. I highly recommend this school.
We have only had our child come to MCHS for a year now, but it has been an amazing, transforming experience not only for our daughter but for our family. The community of parents and teachers is really tremendous. I wish I would have had something like this growing up for myself. The fees for tuition are beyond reasonable for what you get. This is truly a magical place for children to develop and blossom.
Great school, great people, great families. With two active boys with completely different personalities, this school provides a learning environment that is priceless. We love MCHS!
